Michael Mruz holds a graduate degree in clinical social work from Columbia University, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both New York and New Jersey, has met the qualifications of and is a member in good standing of the National Academy of Certified Social Workers.
In addition, he has had advanced training in Client-Centered Therapy, cognitive/behavioral strategies, Gestalt Therapy, existential psychology, Acceptance and Commitment-Based Therapy, Eastern Mindfulness Practices, psychoanalytic dynamics, Transactional Analysis, Bioenergetics, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples
Michael Mruz has also received advance training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Vipassana/Insight Meditation. He studied Mindfulness-Based Therapy and Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, and Saki Santorelli at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Retreats, as well as with Herbert Benson, MD, at the Harvard Medical School Mind Body Institute.
He has also been an active practitioner of Vipassana/Insight Meditation for over 15 years, having studied with Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg, Philip Moffit, Christopher Titmus, John Travis, Carol Wilson, Guy Armstrong, Steve Armstrong, Mary Grace-Ore, and other teachers at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Woodacre, CA; Insight Meditation Society, Barre, MA; Vipassana Meditation Foundation, Maui, Hawaii; and other retreat centers throughout the world.
